Posted: 17.02.2010 14:37

Powercruise #23 rocks Sydney's Eastern Creek Raceway at the end of this month and because we know you don't want to miss out on the Powerskids, Burnouts, Cruising, Drifting and all the other wild events that make up the biggest car event in the country, we've conned Promoter Gup out of a very special prize.

All you need to do to stand a chance of scoring entry for you and your car as well as tickets for three of your mates to the event AND the much sought after PIT LANE ACCESS STICKER is make us laugh.

Sounds simple, right? It is!

Just write a funny caption for this picture of Gup (that clearly shows the effect that no sleep and too many Powerskids can have on a guy) and email it to us at: info@extrememagazine.com.au

The funniest entry as judged by the class clowns in the Extreme Magazine office will win the major prize as outlined above while a further six runners-up will receive a copy of the Powercruise #17 DVD.

Get captioning and emailing (you don't have long) and will you see you at POWERCRUISE #23!

Winners will be announced on Extreme Performance facebook page on the 22/02/2010. Prize does not include transport of individuals, groups or vehicles. Include your full name, contact number and postal address with your entry.

Show Wheels winner revealed

Posted: 16.02.2010 10:45

Some of you may remember the competition we ran in previous issues urging you to write in telling us your hard luck story for your chance to win a set of 20in Show Wheels Streeter alloy wheels. We read some amazing stories however after much deliberation the winner has been announced.

The wheels went to a young bloke by the name of Shannon Critch. His story is below:

The show wheels will defenantly be going to a very deserving home on my VU SS Ute because, In June of 2008 I was hit head on whilst on my new motorcycle and was busted up very bad. I practically broke most bones in my body except for my left arm not to mention seeing my new bike ripped into a million pieces. It was like dropping a box of lego there was bits and peices every where.
Not to mention that the guy who decided he prefered my side of the road did not even get out of his commercial van to render any assistance at all infact when the police turned up to the scene he was heard asking how long this was all going to take as he wants to get back to work (The Prick).
I can now no longer ride motorcycles due to having titanium rods in both my femurs along with titanium screws and plates through out the rest of my body.
I Can no longer drive a manual vehical due to the inpairments I am left with so I sold my old car and got the ute in auto, since I have not been able to work at all since the accident I have not had the cash to splash around to get rims and other bits and pieces for my new toy.
The new rims would be a great start to my beast and well looked after

Thanks for hearing my story

The boys at Show Wheels have already fitted up the gorgeous rollers to Shannon's VU SS and don't they look unreal! A huge thanks has to go out to Show Wheels for their generous support - the competition has no doubt changed one reader's life.

If the wheels get you hot under the collar and involuntarily opening your wallet then head to www.showwheels.com.au to check out their entire range.

VL TURBO NATIONALS 2010

Posted: 09.02.2010 10:23

You read right, a drag event dedicated wholly and solely to the universally loved VL Turbo.

Organised by a crew of South Australian VL racing nuts, the first ever VL Turbo Nationals is set to sweep through Heathcote Park Raceway with all the energy of a limiter clutch dump!

The event already has the support of some of the country's biggest VL workshops, with some of the biggest names in the scene pencilled in to put on quite a show.

It goes without saying that we're backing the event whole-heartedly, and if it sounds like the kind of event you'd love to be a part of or check out then get your butt to Heathcote on the weekend of the 24th and 25th of April.

For more information be sure to head to the official VL Turbo Nationals homepage, www.vlturbonationals.com.au

VIDEO: 301-foot jump is nuts!

Category: Motorsport
Posted: 11.01.2010 11:16

Just after we posted footage of Travis Pastrana launching his STi over 250-feet on New Year's Eve comes footage of Monster Energy team member Johnny Greaves propelling his truck over 310-feet to take the current world record for 4-wheel-drives.

Crazy muthas.

VIDEO: Mythbusters drive a car on water

Category: Misc
Posted: 11.01.2010 11:09

Remember the Countach skipping over a lake in Canonball Run 3? Mythbusters recently decided they'd try and see if the stunt was workable, first trying it out on a scale version, then with a Pontiac Fiero and a real lake.

We wish we could tell you that these stunts are successful, but we just don't know, as the Mythbusters guys have cleverly cut each video short to make you either go to their website or watch the TV show to see the full thing.

Top Gear get their own iPhone app, too!

Category: Misc
Posted: 11.01.2010 10:59

Seems like everyone is getting their own iPhone applications these days. However, considering there's over 90,000 of the buggers in circulation right now, it's probably not too hard to fathom.

Top Gear are the latest to release their own, this time reprising the 'Cool Wall' concept as a game.

For $1.99 you can spend hours trying to guess what cars are cool and which are uncool. But considering that there seems to be no scientific method for deciding which are cool and which are uncool on the TV show, we're not sure how anyone else is going to be able to figure it out and get the right answers.

The reviews page has raised some concerns over cropped images of vehicles and whatnot, however Top Gear claim updates are coming, so buyer beware until then.
