Commodore says ‘Gidday’ to WCOTY nomination

Holden better start planning to build a bigger trophy room as the VE continues to add to its ever growing list of awards and accolades. This time it has just been announced that the new billion dollar Australian built VE Commodore will join the list with 27 other vehicles nominated from all around the world who will be going head to head in battle for the prestigious honor of being crowned ‘World Car of the Year’. The VE was the only Australian built vehicle in the line up and is judged on styling, performance, handling, comfort and utility. Also, judges take into account value, safety, environmental responsibility, significance and their emotional appeal. Well respected motoring journalist Bill McKinnon nominated the VE Commodore based on its performance in all the judging categories.

“It’s an honor to have VE Commodore nominated the World Car of the Year, It is especially significant given our aim was to compete against some of the most expensive and most carefully crafted cars around the world” GM Holden Chairman and Managing Director Denny Mooney said. The Award winner will be announced at the New York International Auto Show in April 2007. More information can be found on their website, at www.wcoty.com
