Marcus Zukanovic is a very happy man, and with very good reason. He has not only managed to take out the V8 Ute Racing Series, but has also managed to win the Commodore Cup. Winning 2 championships in a single year is no easy feat, one that has not been achieved since Mark Skaife won both the Formula Holden and the Touring Car Championship back in 1991. Even though Zukanovic had a comfortable points lead of nearest rival, a DNF on the final race of the Ute Racing series would be fatal, throwing the championship to the wind. This however nearly became a reality in the final race when Zukanovic’s Falcon became stranded on the grid while the field struggled to get around him. Marcus’s Commodore Cup round went a little bit smoother, needing only 41 points to be guaranteed the crown. With a win in the first race, second place in the second, and another win in the final race, Zukanovic was announced the 2006 Commodore Cup winner.
