7/12/06 Beast gets new claws

Anyone that went to the Springcar Nationals that was on recently in Shepparton would have noticed that the legendary Beast Ute was back in action. While the Ute was originally built by Roman Autotek, all the spanner work is now done by new owner James Scarlett. James is defiantly no new kid on the car scene, anyone that hasn’t been living under a rock would know his black HZ ‘BLOWNZ’, which has a mountain of metal that towers above the roof, and is frequently seen swinging around on burnout pads all over the country. As a collector, some cars that currently belong to James include the ex Darrell McBeth Sony wagon that has now been restored and further customized, looking better than ever. Howard Astil’s coupe, recent Summernats elite T bucket, the Heatseeker Monaro and a wild custom Chopper imported from the states with tyres wider than 99% of road cars.

The Beast currently has an empty engine bay and trans tunnel, it seems 800hp isn’t enough for James, with a larger blower and more aggressive cam being some of the main additions to bump the power figure up to the high side of 1200hp. A new transmission is being built for the car after a few issues, as well as an upgraded fuel system to feed the newfound power. The colour scheme is going to stay as is, and will continue to be known as the Momo Ute, but will be frying tyres harder than ever, on a more regular occurrence, as reliability is one thing that will be sorted with the new setup.

Motorway Tyres has also come on board with the Scarlett team, providing the rubber that resulted in solid blue smoke bellowing from the tyres of both the Ute (now wearing ‘CRRAZY’ plates) and ‘BLOWNZ’ all weekend.
