The 2006 V8 Ute Racing Series winner and 2006 Commodore Cup winner Marcus Zukanovic has taken out the CAMS Motorsport personality of the Year Award. With celebrities such as Sir Jack Brabham and Norman Beechey, Zukanovic was awarded the prestigious honor based on five categories which included being a fair competitor, personable, and one who promotes motorsport in a positive light. “To be regognised in the presence of someone like Sir Jack Brabham who is so highly regarded in not just Austutralia but the whole world of motorsport really means a lot,” explained Zukanovic. “It goes to show the level of prestige that comes with an Award night of this calibre.” Previous winners of the award include Australian Rally Champion driver Simon Evans, past V8 Ute driver Grant Denyer, and also V8 Supercar Drivers Marcos Ambrose and recent Bathurst winner Craig Lowndes. “I was amongst some tough names with fellow nominees such as Rick Kelly who just won the 2006 V8 Supercar Championship, Jim Richards who is a long time personality of motorsport and Simon Evans who is a character in himself… to beat those guys is pretty exciting stuff,” said Zukanovic. Jumping from Commodore Cup Car to V8 Falcon Ute is one thing, but to win both Champioships is certainly an effort that should earn a medal of its own.
