Holden’s highly acclaimed EFIJY concept is about to step up it’s American profile by making it’s debut at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit next month. It will be apart of the General Motors stand at the Detroit show, furthering the image of Holden’s most globally recognised concept car. In case for some weird reason you’re scratching your head and wondering ‘What the hell is the EFIJY?” you are missing out on one of the world’s finest concept cars. Yes, that’s right. Not only does the EFIJY win the hearts of us Aussies, but Holden’s concept is also creating serious waves in the American Auto scene. How serious? How about winning the prestigious Hot Rod of the Year award presented by Hot Rod Magazine? Incorporating some of the most high tech gear ever seen in a road car, this concept car is truly a massive milestone for the Holden Design Team. Based on original 1953 FJ sedan with dash of 20th century influence, the EFIJY was restyled to incorporate a low slung hot rod theme. A six-litre supercharged V8 engine was then thrown in for good measure. “The EFIGY was always going to be a part of the show,” GM Vice President Global Design Ed Welburn said. “I first saw this car at Holden more than a year ago and was stunned by its presence. It’s amazing. “It’s a great creative expression which highlights the synergy which can be achieved between classic styling and technology.
