Wednesday 9th December, saw the unveiling of a new road safety initiative – ‘Drive to Survive’.
The program will be managed and facilitated by Ian Luff Motivation Australia P/L (est. 1983) with the focus on improving driver behaviour, skills and saving our most precious resort - human life.
"The NSW road toll is spiralling out of control with some 91 more deaths than this time last year," was the sobering introduction by network Ten, One HD presenter and MC for the night Greg Rust.
Greg introduced the founder of ‘Drive to Survive’ Ian Luff who outlined the importance of improved driver development and training. This will now be conducted at The Sydney Dragway from January, 2010 with the closure of Oran Park.
V8 Supercar driver Warren Luff is the ambassador for ‘Drive to Survive.’ When interviewed by Greg Rust Warren enlightened the 100 special guests, government officials and media about the importance of inappropriate speed and why the race track is the legal environment for racing and not public roads.
Managing Director of Sydney Dragway Tony Beuk reaffirmed the partnership with ‘Drive to Survive’ and the positive link with taking speed off the roads through their highly successful Wednesday night off street drag racing meetings.
