HSV is heading into Bathurst in a big way for the 2007 Bathurst 1000, rolling in five white commemorative HSV Clubsport R8s.

The special commemorative white HSV’s will feature unique livery that will be paraded around the mountain as part of the V8 drivers parade prior to the great race, as well as participating in CAMS ‘hot lap’ events.

Toll HSV Dealer Team driver Rick Kelly is currently leading the V8 Supercar Championship points table flying the HSV flag high above the field, beating co-driver Garth Tander who is currently leading the Carrera Cup competition.

Leanne Tander who is also apart of the HSV drivers network is also leading the open wheeler Formula 3 Championship, which has only one round to go.

Lowering your car the cheap way

Category: Weird and Wacky
Posted: 27.09.2007 12:50

It seems that the usual way to lower a car in New Zealand is to bust out the old Makita and shave a few coils off the springs. Well, that’s according to the New Zealand online newspaper Stuff.co.nz.

After pulling over an unregistered Mitsubishi Lancer, it was soon revealed that the car was filled with heavy rocks, dropping the car into the weeds and created a cheap lowered look. Upon closer inspection it was revealed that the driver was only 15 years old and the car didn’t belong to either the driver or the 27 year old passenger.

Reported in the online New Zealand newspaper, Rachel Lord stated that it appeared the Lancer had been lowered by loading the boot full of rocks, rather that the usual method of cutting the springs.

That’s right, the “usual” method of cutting the springs. Something tells me that somebody seriously needs to do a bit of research into the effects of cut springs before making such a irresponsible claim in public. D’oh!

Category: Street Commodores
Posted: 27.09.2007 11:41

It’s been in the planning for a while now and it’s finally upon us! The SA Street Commodores Dyno Day is on this Saturday and positions look like they could be all full.

If you live in South Australia near the Graham West Workshop in Park Holme and would like to see your car up on the rollers, better get in quick and put your name down on the reserve list! Due to last minute drop outs there could still be some spots left on the list so make sure you’re quick to put your hand up.

If you know of anybody who has registered for the day and is a definite no show, get them to quickly de-register in the forum thread to avoid taking any willing participant’s space. The forum thread for the SA Dyno Day is located HERE
