Category: On The Street
Posted: 31.10.2007 08:41

And you thought that the new VE Ute colours looked pretty hot, take a look at the latest offing from Pontiac. Featuring the awesome new orange paint work, the special ‘SEMA’ edition G8 also features orange accented interior highlights, slotted and drilled brake rotors, lowered suspension and HSV 20” wheels.

Engine power output is left unchanged, but when the exterior looks this good, the under-bonnet tweaking can be left a little later.

50 Cent gets himself a new customised G8

Category: On The Street
Posted: 31.10.2007 07:58

Rapper 50 Cent has teamed up with New York-based tuner, Unique Autosports, to build a one-of-a-kind G8 rocketship. The 550hp beast debut at the 2007 SEMS Show in Las Vegas to a large audience of amazed fans.

Featuring a full house LSX 427 engine as the G8’s heart, the power plant shares many common components as to that found in the Corvette Z06’s 7.0L LS7 engine. The engine assembly was filled out with a variety of production-based components used on the Corvette Z06’s 7.0L LS7 engine, including a forged steel crankshaft, lightweight titanium connecting rods, racing-derived aluminum cylinder heads and a complete LS7 intake/throttle body/fuel injection system. Engine operation is handled with GM Performance Parts’ new stand-alone LS7 crate engine controller.

As well as featuring 550hp on tap, the G8 also features:

• An all-new Spies Hecker Torch Red exterior paint job accented with a bold Ebony graphic that mimics the shape of Pontiac’s “dart” insignia; the graphic runs over the top of the car, starting at a point on the front fascia.
• Twenty-two-inch chrome wheels from NC Forged that have a deep-dish, seven-spoke design
• Low-profile Pirelli Scorpion Zero tires
• Dark-tinted taillamps
• Tinted glass with Llumar film
• Custom “50 Cent Unique Autosports Edition” exterior badging
• Borla stainless steel exhaust system

Brett Stevens Racing puts on a show for a good cause

Category: Motorsport
Posted: 30.10.2007 08:12

In between their busy schedule of racing a Funny Car, Top Bike and two Top Doorslammers, the Brett Stevens Racing outfit is putting a display for the Leukaemia Foundation.

Stevens is the official Patron of the Leukaemia Foundation QLD (Caboolture branch) and is putting his 3,500 horsepower Kitten Car Care Funny Car on display, as well as his Jack Daniel’s Racing Nitro Harley Top Bike and both the Jack Daniel’s and the SP Racing Falcon Top Doorslammers.

Also scheduled for the day will be a show and shine street car display, raffles, giveaways, face painting and a sausage sizzle which will see all profits raised going to the Leukaemia Foundation QLD.

“It isn’t very often that I get the opportunity to have my team on display at a local event due to my racing and show commitments, but this opportunity came up and I was more than happy to help out for the good cause,” Stevens said.

“It is also a great opportunity for people in my own community to come down and have a look at what a professional motorsport team is like up close and personal.”

“As well as my display there will be a range of other activities going on throughout the day at Tower Tattooing with all profits raised going to the Leukaemia Foundation so everyone should come on down!”

A lesson on oil viscosity and Subaru engines

Category: YouTube
Posted: 29.10.2007 12:21

While this looks to be a very pointless exercise, it certainly is a entertaining lesson on just how important the oil’s role is in an internal combustion engine, or in this case, an external combustion engine.

Using the rev-limiter as some form of base for the test, the oil was drained from the engine and the clock then began to tick. The little four banger put up a fight but it was friction that got the better of it in the end.

Todd Kelly wears black for Bahrain

Category: Motorsport
Posted: 29.10.2007 10:13

Holden Racing Team driver Todd Kelly will be driving a special once off black VE around the Bahrain circuit for the next round of the V8 Supercar Championships.

The menacing Chevrolet black VE Commodore will be representing 10 years olf Chevrolet badged Holdens exported to the Middle East, the same location as the Bahrain racing circuit.

When the idea was bought up in Holden headquarters, Todd Kelly was quick to put his hand up.

“as a kid in Mildura, I always loved the 1950s Chevys for all their flair and detail that was designed into those cars,” he said.

“I used to collect Chevy belt buckles and I’ve still got a drawer full at home – plus I’ve got ten V8 Chevy engines in the workshop for cars, boats and hotrods.

“Chevrolet in the USA always meant success in motorsport and I had the fingers crossed that Holden Motorsport would nominate me for this Bahrain exercise.”
