Easternats this weekend!

Category: On The Street
Posted: 19.03.2008 12:56

The Repco Easternats is set to rip up Sandown International once again in 2008 as entrant numbers soar with 2008 promising to be the biggest and best show yet.

Only running two days this year, Easternats extends cruising and crams in as much action possible into two days of tyre frying mayhem. Bring your trolley jack, bring your tyres and make sure you have a car trailer on standby as go hard or go home is what Easternats is all about!

Those who are simply spectating, make sure those camera batteries are charged and the compact flash card is empty as no doubt there will be action aplenty. Entry is $200 per vehicle and closes on the 21st of March. So be quick as there is only a few days left!

Chevrolet Matiz TV ad makes little sense

Category: GM News

Well, we said it makes little sense, but that certainly doesn’t mean that it’s a bad advertisement. In fact, as far as television advertisements go, it’s does its job really well and that’s make people remember the ad, albeit nothing to do with the actual product they are selling.

It’s all about the Chevrolet Matiz and while the ad isn’t even in English, it makes no difference what so ever when it features a woman in really tight pants attempting to squeeze into tight gaps.

One thing that does get me scratching my head though is the ad is clearly marketed towards the male audience, however I’m sure the Matiz’s main fan base would be female. Go figure.

Tokyo asks over 65s to surrender their licence

Category: On The Street
Posted: 19.03.2008 07:57

Tokyo is a country with a huge population of over 65s and let’s face it, that age bracket really isn’t know for being the safest age group on the road. Tokyo is well aware of this, and is now acting on a new initiative to see over 65s off the road and onto public transport. Last year, over 65s were the cause of over 100,000 traffic accidents in Japan with that figure doubling over the past 10 years.

Incentives are now being setup that will see ex-motorists offered free home delivery of groceries and discounts on meals for handing in their license.

Such a scheme seems like a good idea and I think Australia could learn a lot from it, it would certainly make a chance from the usual knee-jerk reactions that follow every time there is a accident involving a provisional driver. Maybe while they are at it, they could cancel the licence of anyone who drives a gold coloured Toyota Camry.
