Merry Xmas from Street Commodores

Category: Street Commodores
Posted: 19.12.2009 11:46

Well, many of us here at SC HQ are now out of the office (meaning no news updates for a few weeks, sorry!) enjoying a long desired break over the Xmas period. So we thought it pertinent to send out our absolutely best Xmas wishes to all of you, your friends and families.

It has been a huge year with tons of ups and downs and somehow it seemed to fly by even faster than the last. We're very grateful for your continued patronage and to all the newer members celebrating their first Xmas with the SC family, welcome and thanks!

For anyone interested, we just transferred the final remaining balance of the Cruise for Charity 6 donations after all the financial paperwork was sorted and the final balance was just over $154,000 - just shy of last year's total and an absolutely phenomenal amount considering the damage caused by the fall of the economy. So well done to all of you who attended and donated!

Please be safe on the road over the Xmas break. We want to see you all back here safe and sound in the new year, ready to enjoy another 12 months of Commodore goodness. Having said that though, we hope you have a blast and get to share some time off with your families during this special time.

Cheers and have an awesome xmas and new year break,
Ben Hosking and the crew from SC.

Click the link below to view some of Mark Rebilas' top drag racing pics of the 2009 NHRA season.

Mindblowing! Plus, for the budding photogs out there, they also include the camera settings used for each shot.

LX Hatch for sale in the USA!

Category: online ads

Some things you just don't expect to find in the US of A.

Pity it isn't a healthier example. But for $5000, I guess someone could make something nice out of it that will definitely be unique on US roads.

VIDEO: Never trust the valet!

Category: YouTube
Posted: 18.12.2009 09:38

A few valets in the employ of Atlanta-based AAA Valet, working at the St. Louis Hyatt hotel, used patrons cars for serious burnout sessions in an underground garage. Nothing was spared – Civics, SUVs, Porsches, Acuras; it appears that if it could be driven, they would find a way to eat up its tires.

The clincher: the digital displays of drifting doom ended up on YouTube under the profile of "Valet Underground". Someone blew the whistle, and now AAA valet doesn't service the Hyatt hotel anymore. Not surprisingly, the videos are gone – we just hope their licenses have met the same fate.

VIDEO: Russian overreacts to speeding ticket

Category: Weird and Wacky
Posted: 18.12.2009 09:31

This is perhaps the funniest thing we've seen on the interwebs this year.

Next time you get done by the cops, perhaps try this method. Might not get you off the hook, as in this case, but it's certainly a spectacle worthy of vaudeville.

Scary thing is, she seems very legit.

VIDEO: Funnycar backflip

Category: Motorsport
Posted: 17.12.2009 10:14

This footage is from a drag event in 1975, while funnycar technology was obviously still in a trial and error phase... one decent error being the fact that the cars were capable of doing this!

The source of this vid claimed that the legendary John Force actually piloted a rear-mount Funnycar as well at a similar chronological point.
