Behind the scenes with Eddy Tassone

Posted: 30.04.2011 00:36, Edited: 29.04.2011 10:36

We spoke with cover car owner and Commodore celebrity Eddy Tassone about his amazing yellow Coupe on the cover of Issue 182, as well as upcoming projects and Commodores in general. Get the extra info we couldn’t fit inside the article here:

Current PB?
“It’s gone 9.0sec@153mph with 100hp [of nitrous]”

What made you got N/A this time around?
“Most people can’t afford the big dollar twin turbo kit. Most people want aspirated engines. I love them - I wanted some fun N/A, and you can’t beat cubes!”

Why the ETP heads?
“The amount of power they can make. We’ve got new Moses heads sitting here, too”

You turn it to 9,000rpm?
“Even past that! I had haps of dramas when we started doing that! The new engine is dry sump so it’s not that bad but the yellow car has a wet sump with a Moroso accumulator. We’ve tried everything to make the engines live”

Where to from here with it?
“This is just my fun car now! We’ll race it on Wednesday nights and have some fun. I’ve got new cars to play with on the street but this is just no stress”

The new car that Eddy alludes to is the black beast below. Sporting a naturally aspirated 488ci EFI LSx-based motor, the car shot straight into the 8s with an 8.7sec on it’s licensing pass, which it promptly smashed down to an 8.44sec PB.

We’ll be looking to bring you more on this amazing car in an upcoming issue of Street Commodores Magazine.

Craziness at Pro Flow Fabrications!

Posted: 29.04.2011 06:32, Edited: 28.04.2011 16:32

It’s a sad fact of life, but it’s not often enough that we see the words ‘high performance’ followed by the word ‘V6’. That’s all about to change though, as Pro Flow Fabrications in Victoria are kicking V6 performance, Alloytec performance no less, in super, mega overdrive with their downright mental turbocharged 9sec drag car project.

Borrowing many cues from Pro Turbo including the turbo positioning behind the front bar, the water to air intercooler and the dump pipe exiting stage left through the bar the car is a bloody menace to look at.

The car wreaked havoc on Melbourne drag strips many moons ago with a potent turbocharged V6 set up on an unopened, 300,000km taxi-spec bottom end which propelled the sedan into the 11s accruing it the namesake LAGSUX. It seems that notion has been thrown out the window, though.

The large frame Garrett turbo will blow through a custom W2A intercooler and into an Alloytec, of which we know little about at this stage. The sedan has been tubbed and caged though, and looks unfairly tough.

Read more about the car’s progress HERE, and in an issue of Street Commodores Magazine upon it’s completion!

Harrop to release forged alloy wheels

Posted: 09.04.2011 04:04, Edited: 08.04.2011 14:04

One of Australia's premier engineering companies, and a name long associated with high-performance parts for Commodores, Harrop Engineering are set to release yet another product to their ever-growing catalogue of tasty aftermarket bits, but it's not what you've come to expect.

Known for their brake packages, supercharger kits, stroker cranks and driveline components, Harrop are set to back this up with a distinctive forged alloy wheel.

The wheels will measure anywhere from 7.5in and 15in in width and be available in sizes from 17in right through to giant 22in hoops. Harrop claim they're perfectly suited to the Harrop brake upgrade kits, with extra caliper clearance.

For full details on these hot race-inspired wheels check out www.harrop.com.au
