We were in Melbourne just yesterday and popped past the GMM workshop to see what Phonsy and his crew were working on.

We don't often the the chance to use the phrase 'flabbergasted' but that's precisely what we were! Aside from being a generally impressive set up, the calibre of Commodores floating about knocked our socks off.



In the car park was a caged and 'chuted VE sedan that Phonsy is building up to showcase his RipShifter and Ramjet air intakes. It was joined outside the shop by a 3.3L Whipple-charged unit - the blower so large that the bonnet had to be modified for clearance!

The car park was just the teaser, though, and it was inside the shop that really knocked us for six. Phonsy's Procharger kits are taking off with unparralleled popularity, as witnessed by the numerous Procharged rigs on the floor. It seems that the super superchargers have taken Phonsy's eye, too, with a few of Phonsy's own projects sporting Prochargers of varying sizes.





The engine laid out on the bench is a 427ci Warhawk-based LSx
block complete with dry sump, Wilson billet intake manifold and no less than 16 ID2000 Injector Dynamics fuel injectors, feeding the beast a steady diet of methanol.



It's all needed because of the whopping great F2 Procharger mounted directly to the crank which pumps to figures in excess of 30psi. The rig is destined for one of the shop's race boats and will be superceded by a similar motor aided by an F3!



Eye candy lay in every corner with his highly successful RipShifter short shifter system and Ramjet taking our eye. There's also his new line of machined GMM rocker covers which are the perfect addition for any engine bay.

If you don't get down there to check out the impressive stuff in the build at least go down to check out what is arguably one of the cleanest and best looking shops in the country. Oh, and then there's the engine dyno room the boys are building. Yeah, we'd go down and oggle that, too!

Our buddys at Extreme Performance Magazine asked us to throw up some of their awesome Powercruise 23 coverage from earlier this year.

While it appears in the brand new issue of Extreme on sale today (May 28th), some of the details on who won what left a little to be desired.

Make no mistake, the relevant staff involved have been drawn and quartered and are now serving time making custom number plates and fitting hideous body kits to Toyota Camrys.
